Fitness Trends in 2024:
Feb 01, 2024Unveiling My Fitness Predications
The combo of strength training and pilates is by far my favorite combo.
I am a forever gym and strength girlie, but some of you may also know that I love my pilates and teaching on the megaformer. Lifting weights will change the composition of your body and will leave you feeling stronger, more energetic and burning more calories. Pilates, on the other hand, is lower impact, slower and helps improve balance, stability, core strength, coordination and increased flexibility. I believe strength training/lifting weights and pilates is the perfect balance and I don’t foresee either of these going anywhere in 2024. In fact, I believe they both will boom even more, but those aren’t the only two I foresee gaining in popularity!
With everything going on in the world, Fight Club is back. The only difference? People are definitely talking about it.
Boxing is a dynamic and physically demanding sport that offers a plethora of benefits for those who engage in it. Beyond the obvious improvement in cardiovascular health and overall fitness, the sport serves as an effective stress-reliever, allowing individuals to channel their energy and frustrations into focused, controlled movements. According to a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, training in the sport of boxing can lead to significant improvements in cognitive function and reaction times. I still remember back to when I was in high school and was big on utilizing boxing as one of my cross-training sports. I have to say, it made me SUPER sharp and conditioned me to be thinking ahead. I’d like to give boxing major props to the athlete I became. I know without a doubt it was the foundation of performing better in all my other sports. With the rising popularity of boxing as a form of fitness for all ages, it's interesting to note that the global boxing equipment market is projected to reach $823 million by 2025!
Rebounding has never been cool… until now.
Just like the strength training and pilates, I believe the boxing trend will have a yin to its yang – rebounding. You might already be familiar with it, or you might find yourself sitting there thinking “uh… WUT”. Trust me when I say, bouncing around from relationships and breakups too soon still is out in 2024, but reliving your childhood on the trampoline is IN. I’m someone who has been spinning for almost a decade and this year I decided to change it up completely. I was honestly just… bored. My body wasn’t craving it nor was it excited to go on the bike, so I put indoor cycling to the side and decided to take trampoline classes! When I say my endorphins are in full swing and I feel energized and motivated for the rest of the day after each workout – I mean it. Originally used for astronaut training, rebounding has evolved into a mainstream exercise regimen due to its low-impact nature and numerous health benefits. According to NASA, a 20-minute rebounding session can be as effective as a 30-minute jog, and I’m burning up to twice the amount of calories I was on the bike! The American Council on Exercise states that rebounding can improve cardiovascular health, balance, and coordination while being gentle on joints. It has also been shown to improve pelvic floor strength, lymphatic drainage, and numerous other things. You can give your brain a mini workout too and follow some fun choreography orrrr throw on your favorite show or music, zone out and give your brain a break – no judgment! As people increasingly seek fun and efficient workout options, rebounding is expected to continue its rise in popularity this year, with new and innovative rebounding classes and equipment continuously hitting the market.
2024 is the year to break out of your comfort zone!
I encourage each of you to try something new. Whether it’s boxing, weight lifting, rebounding or something else, I promise you your body will thank you!
