Green, Clean, Mocktails That Sham-rock

St. Patrick's Day is the perfect time to celebrate with some festive drinks, but why not skip the alcohol and opt for something a bit healthier? Whether you’re sober curious or just want a refreshing treat, mocktails can be just as fun and flavorful. Plus, some ingredients can even offer health benefits, making your celebration both refreshing and nourishing! I’m giving you five tasty mocktail recipes–and even a couple bonus ones– to brighten your St. Patrick’s Day, and maybe even help you feel a little better afterward!

1. Minty Lime Fizz

This zesty mocktail will keep you refreshed all day long, with the cooling touch of mint and a burst of lime. Top it off with sparkling water for some added fizz!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or agave syrup)
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves
  • Sparkling water
  • Pour over ice

Health Benefits: Lime juice is packed with vitamin C, which boosts immunity and supports skin health. Mint not only adds flavor, but it can also aid digestion and help reduce bloating, making this mocktail a great post-meal drink.

2. Cucumber Cooler

For a hydrating and refreshing mocktail, look no further than the cucumber cooler. With its crisp flavor and detoxifying properties, it’s perfect for those looking to stay hydrated and balanced.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey or stevia
  • Sparkling water
  • Pour over ice

Health Benefits: Cucumbers are low in calories and high in water content, making them a fantastic ingredient for staying hydrated. They also have antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help with skin health and reduce puffiness.

3. Apple Ginger Spritzer

If you’re looking for a mocktail that has a bit of a kick, this apple ginger spritzer will be your go-to. The apple juice pairs perfectly with the spicy, warming flavor of ginger.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup apple juice (preferably fresh-pressed)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • A sprig of rosemary
  • Sparkling water
  • Pour over ice

Health Benefits: Ginger is known for its anti-inflammatory and digestive properties. It can help soothe nausea and improve digestion, making this a great option if you’re feeling a little sluggish after indulging in some St. Paddy’s Day treats.

4. Citrus Mint Julep

A crowd favorite—a refreshing twist on the traditional mint julep, this mocktail brings together the vibrant flavors of citrus and mint for a drink that’s both flavorful and hydrating.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Shake with crushed ice and strain or pour over ice

Health Benefits: Oranges are loaded with vitamin C, which supports your immune system, while lemons help detoxify your body and support digestion. Mint aids in digestion and can help with indigestion after a hearty meal.

5. Tropical Kiwi Cooler

A tropical-inspired mocktail that combines the tang of kiwi with the sweetness of pineapple juice, this drink will transport you to a sunny paradise.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe kiwis, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Sparkling water
  • Pour over ice

Health Benefits: Kiwi is a great source of vitamin C, antioxidants, and fiber, which are all excellent for boosting immunity, improving digestion, and supporting skin health. Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme that aids in digestion and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Bonus Drinks:

You know I can’t resist a good smoothie, so if you’re like me and plan to forego St. Paddy’s Day festivities in exchange for that beauty rest, I’ve got you covered!

Green Goddess Smoothie

This smoothie is a vibrant green drink that’s as healthy as it is beautiful. Packed with spinach, banana, and a splash of coconut water, it’s a refreshing way to hydrate while celebrating.

Ingredients:

  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • Ice cubes

Health Benefits: Spinach is high in vitamin K, which supports bone health, while the potassium in bananas helps regulate blood pressure. Coconut water is a great hydrating option, offering electrolytes that help maintain fluid balance after a fun day of festivities.

Shamrock Shake (Coach T’s Healthier Version)

If you're craving a classic shamrock shake, this version swaps out the sugary ice cream for frozen banana and almond milk, making it a much healthier option.

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon mint extract
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Health Benefits: Bananas are an excellent source of potassium, which can help maintain electrolyte balance and support muscle function. Almond milk is low in calories and rich in vitamin E, which benefits skin health and may help reduce inflammation.

The Bottom Line

Mocktails are an excellent way to enjoy the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day without the negative side effects of alcohol. Plus, many of the ingredients used in these recipes offer health benefits that can keep you feeling energized, hydrated, and balanced.
